09 autumn and winter women's beach "KALEIDOSCOPE" series

Shanghai Beach 2009 autumn and winter series named “KALEIDOSCOPE” draws inspiration from the cultural traditions of overseas Chinese (Straits Chinese), and strives to express the splendour and exquisiteness of design. The name "KALEIDOSCOPE" refers to diverse cultural factors and decorative elements. This is the origin of the excellent carving and sewing style of the Chinese in the Straits.

This series uses the visualization techniques of German Expressionism and Flexible Cubism to interpret the theme and present it with a more modern look. The series is composed of three groups of designs, all of which are inspired by the culture of overseas Chinese students, but their styles are different. They are "Nature," "The Cubism and the Trend of Art Deco", and "KALEIDOSCOPE" of Dacheng.

Natural sense series

The designer draws inspiration from nature and integrates the infinite environmental elements of the Straits Chinese living area into the fabric design. Bamboo is one of the key motifs. It is known for its durability and elasticity. It is also a symbol of longevity and courage in adversity. In addition, bamboo has hollow qualities, and hollowness in Chinese culture is often compared to a modest character. Therefore, bamboo also means an open mind. The bamboo pattern is beautifully depicted and embroidered on coats and jackets.

Elegant blouses and cheongsams are modernized with the image of “underwater garden”; in addition, fish that are loved by the Chinese can be seen in the patterns and symbolize prosperity. The breathtaking hand-painted flowers recall the traditional Chinese women's wax-spun flower prints, making the uniform coat a unique charm.

Cubism and Art Decoration Series

The second set of designs was inspired by the wave of cubism and art deco and made full use of geometric patterns. The Bauhaus printing inspired by the cubist movement, and the use of long-lived symbol - "life", which runs through the hidden under the print. In addition to the multicolored and mottled prints, the Bauhaus pattern is also used in a jacquard dress that is light and dark. It is decorated in a variety of pieces to reveal the unique charm of the cheongsam-style cropping.

An elegant dress transforms the charm of the “Lip Flower” pattern. It was inspired by the porcelain of the Straits Chinese: bright flowers and saturated tones express a strong sense of self.

The last set of designs in this series brings together many inspirations, from the origins of overseas Chinese culture, the wave of artistic decoration, to the impression of nature and military. Designers also used a variety of batik prints and Osamu Jewelry patterns to bring the "KALEIDOSCOPE" theme to its fullest. "Exotic flower" on jacquard fabric is the key pattern of this group design
